This treatment is highly effective at reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Microneedling does wonders to help tighten skin and improve texture. It helps reduce the depth of acne scars, especially when received in a series of 10 treatments. It stimulates collagen by improving circulation and renewing radiance. Microneedling helps to break up and remove stubborn hyperpigmentation issues such as melasma, a skin condition derived by hormones. Also it is very helpful in breaking up and lessening the appearance of stretch marks.
Microneedling yields amazing results when treating those with mild to moderate skin laxity and/or acne scarring. Those with dark spots and sun damage respond very well to microneedling. Every skin type can benefit from the Microneedling treatment, however those susceptible to keloid scarring should refrain. Microneedling is perfect for those want great results, but do not wish to experience the downtime which is frequently associated with deeper laser resurfacing treatments.
Though most people can be treated very successfully with Microneedling, there are those who have pre-existing conditions which keep them from being candidates for this service. Contraindications for the microneedling procedure include: hemophilia skin diseases, eczema allergies, autoimmune diseases, history of cold sores, history of cancer, keloid scarring.
No! We ensure your comfort with our free medical grade topical numbing cream prior to the procedure!
The microneedling pen will move quickly across the skin, and will feel somewhat prickly, but tolerable due to the topical numbing cream. The numbing time is about 30 minutes, and the microneedling process itself usually takes about 15-30 minutes, depending on skin thickness and targeted skin needs. So, the average total treatment time for microneedling is about one hour.
Downtime after microneedling is minimal, but you can expect to have several days of erythema (redness), some sensitivity, and tiny abrasions to the skin. There will most likely be pinpoint bleeding during the treatment, which will stop almost immediately. The skin tends to take on a “bronzed” appearance for several days post treatment. Then this bronzed outer layer of skin will begin to flake off, revealing a fresh and glowing new you underneath. It is recommended that you stay away from the sun and avoid strenuous exercise for 2 weeks following treatment. Additionally, it is recommended that hot showers, baths, hot-tubs and saunas are avoided for about two weeks after microneedling as well, since the skin is more open. The opening of the skin through microneedling allows your skin care products to penetrate deeper in the skin.
